Regional HR Manager for Western Canada,  Vancouver or Calgary

This is a unique and exciting opportunity for an experienced Human Resources professional to take their career to the next level by leading the alignment and delivery of national strategy, adapted to local needs, across Western Canada. You’ll have the opportunity to work with a dedicated team of HR professionals, across several disciplines, in developing and implementing people strategies, policies and practices throughout Western Canada. The ideal candidate will thrive in an entrepreneurial culture that provides high levels of autonomy to its people, enabling them to really make a difference. As you travel extensively throughout Western Canada, you will become a coach and mentor for senior professionals as well as your HR managers, thereby influencing and enabling others to achieve their professional goals and contributing to a motivating team environment.
As a subject matter expert, you will consult and guide your team of managers allowing them to become empowered and able to resolve local challenges, as they may arise. Your current experience at managing complex people issues will be buoyed with an ability to leverage the international and national best practices and resources of an established, dynamic growing organization. 
Reporting to the National Managing Director, People and Culture, with dotted line reporting to the Regional Managing Partner, your responsibilities will include:
  • Partnering with other regional HR managers and national HR leaders to align all strategic HR initiatives to promote and support the firm’s employer value proposition
  • Working with the national HR leadership team and local HR Managers in Western Canada to drive our employer brand development – both internally and externally, talent development and change leadership
  • Partnering with and coaching firm leaders to inspire and engage our people
  • Providing local market input into the design and development of national HR strategies and programs
  • Overseeing the region’s workforce planning, succession planning and strategic talent attraction activities
  • Enabling business unit HR managers to take full responsibility for people management, acting as an adviser and subject matter expert for high risk/complex issues
  • Responsibility for leading and developing the HR teams in Kelowna, Victoria, Vancouver, Langley, Edmonton, Wetaskiwin, Camrose, Calgary and Winnipeg
  • Providing inspirational leadership that cultivates a coaching environment
  • Regular travel throughout the Region as well as Toronto for national HR leadership meetings.
The skills and attributes required for this position include:
  • Holding a CHRP designation, university degree and 10+ years of human resources experience
  • HR leadership experience in multi-unit and multi-jurisdictional environments
  • Being an articulate, inspiring and versatile communicator who is adept at listening, coaching and training
  • Solid business acumen, management reporting, problem solving and project management skills
  • Demonstrating a passion for, and experience in, developing and bringing out the best in others
  • An ability to build and deepen meaningful business relationships with executives, colleagues and employees based on strong rapport, trust and respect
  • Accepting personal responsibility for the success of yourself, your team and the firm
  • Demonstrating a commitment to action and innovation in the delivery of exceptional internal client service
  • Resilience and confidence and comfortable operating in ambiguity
