Associate – Advisory Services (Corporate Restructuring), Calgary

Grant Thornton LLP is seeking a highly motivated, talented individual to join our Advisory practice in our downtown Calgary office. This is an entry level position at the Associate level.

As the successful candidate, you will join a highly professional Advisory team that is focused on quality and growth. You will be encouraged to learn and contribute to all aspects of the practice, which includes corporate restructuring, bankruptcy and insolvency, with the intention of progressing in your career as the practice grows. As a key part of the team, you will support the team by handling all aspects of insolvency engagements including interacting with creditors, lawyers, debtors, as well as assisting in preparing reports to stakeholders.  Part of your career development is expected to be the pursuit of further training or education, supported by Grant Thornton.

As an Associate in Advisory Services your responsibilities will include:

  • Main point of contact for creditors and legal inquiries
  • Assist in reviewing and entering proofs of claims
  • Preparing initial filing documents.
  • Filing documents with the Superintendent of Bankruptcy and the Court.
  • Taking minutes at meeting of creditors
  • Attendance on site at debtor Companies
  • Conducting some financial analysis on Companies
  • General research
  • Completion of billings
  • Some administrative tasks and offering support to the managers and partners of the Advisory group
The skills and attributes required for the position include:
  • Highly motivated
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Outstanding attitude and a willingness to get the job done under deadlines
  • An interest in learning about all aspects of the  insolvency industry
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • High business acumen
  • Business experience considered an asset
