When you’re passionate about what you do and where you work, the rest comes easy. That’s the culture at Central 1 Credit Union, and that’s precisely what we’re looking for from you. Supporting nearly 200 member credit unions across British Columbia and Ontario, we’re the backbone of the credit union system in both provinces – taking care of everything from online services and product development, to payment processing, trade association services and more.
Our team of nearly 600 employees represent some of the most innovative, passionate individuals you’ll ever meet; people who honestly care about the organization, its members and each other. In other words, people who love what they do.
As part of the Communications team your responsibilities will include:
  • Communications: Conceive, develop, implement and manage a wide variety of Central 1 communications materials for internal departments’ external stakeholders and external audiences.
  • Print Content Creation: Consult with content experts across the organization to develop accurate written materials and key messages for member and system communications, media materials, speeches and Enterprise magazine.
  • Enterprise Magazine: Be editor-in-chief of Enterprise magazine, leading the production from concept to completion. Expand the controlled distribution model and provide support to ad reps to increase advertising sales. Manage the editorial and production teams and the associated budgets.
  • Digital Content: Develop and maintain online content for Central 1’s public website and secure site. Be the lead for the public website to ensure content and operational functionalities are in good standing.
  • Technology Content: Work with MemberDirect Product Managers and project teams to write and edit online and mobile content for new and enhanced products and services.
  • Style Guide: Maintain a consistent style guide for all of Central 1’s communications.
Some of your qualifications
The successful candidate will be strategically-minded with a Bachelor’s degree in Communications or a related discipline such as English, Economics or Business Administration.  A minimum of 7 years of writing and editing experience specifically within a publishing or communications team or within a newsroom is essential. This role requires strong project management skills with a demonstrated ability to multi-task and set priorities within tight timelines and high client expectations. Experience with the development of online content and branding and knowledge of the financial services and/or technology sectors are definite assets. Superior written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work across a variety of teams and departments are also critical.
As much as we believe in working hard, we also believe in personal growth and taking time for ourselves. Accordingly, our total rewards philosophy amounts to one of the best compensation and benefits packages in the industry.
Please submit your cover letter (including salary expectations) and resume online.
Applicants who have been shortlisted will also be asked to provide a portfolio.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank all applicants in advance; however, only those short-listed will be contacted.
