Role Summary/Purpose Under the supervision of the Director, Communications, the Events and Sponsorships Manager is responsible for the strategy, planning and execution of all events, sponsorships and partnership strategies aimed at promoting the GE Capital brand and facilitating business development throughout Canada.
Essential Responsibilities • Develops the annual events and sponsorships programme through innovative and ahead-of-the-curve strategies and activities.
• Advises and supports the senior management team on events, sponsorships and public speaking engagements.
• In conjunction with the Director of Communications & CMO, develops and maintains relations with key associations and negotiate partnership agreements.
• Plays an active role in the conceptualization, development and execution of high-end thought leadership events as well as internal leadership events.
• Liaises with other GE businesses in Canada, US and Mexico to develop higher visibility programmes, and to share information and best practices.
• Recommends, negotiates and coordinates sponsorship opportunities.
• Develops and manages the annual speaking engagements calendar and oversees public speaking trainings and coaching.
• Manages all communications on events and sponsorships to customers and key stakeholders.
• Responsible for the writing and production of all communications and promotional tools related to events and sponsorships.
• Manages annual budget planning and allocation for events and sponsorship, and closely monitors timelines.
• Reports on events and sponsorship performance/ROI and recommends improvements.
• Ensures that the Company’s communications activities and products deliver an outstanding level of institutional excellence.
• Manages and directs external suppliers, consultants and contractors.
• Provides on-site event supervision at major events across Canada (as required).
• Assists the Director, Communications.
Qualifications/Requirements • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing or Communications, or related field experience
• Minimum of five years’ experience in the strategic management of sponsorships and/or corporate events
• Effective negotiation and great relationship building skills
• Keen strategic mind, excellent ability to process and synthesize information and institutional approach
• Proven ability to perform in a complex, fast-changing environment and tolerate stress
• Extremely organized, with excellent project management skills and proven ability to manage deadlines while balancing multiple priorities
• Proven ability to take initiative and follow through on projects
• Excellent English written and verbal communication skills
• Good knowledge of the French language
• Available to travel throughout Canada (moderate frequency)
• Strong PC skills including: Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
