Senior Financial Analyst will report to Finance Manager and will drive detailed analysis, particpate and lead planning cycles, measure results and promote accountability against objectives as well as enable financial decision support on special projects and initiatives. The role will support business managers and their operating teams engaged in a complex Oil & Gas manufacturing operation located in Edmonton.
1. Financial Planning & Analysis:

* Drive planning cycles with Finance Manager including developing estimates and operating plans & reviews for Growth Playbook, SII & Operating Plan
* Partner with O&G Operations Leaders engaged in manufacturing and service operations
* Support monthly closing and the ongoing estimate process, such as weekly pacing, and develop continuous variance analysis on key business metrics to understand trends, risks, opportunities and variances to targets
* Support business operating rhythm including performance metrics and financial and non-financial reports in order to support Business decisions and to evaluate business results
* Work together with Comm Ops and Inquiry-to-Order (ITO) team to develop profitability reports for key deals/customers
* Understand key processes and transactions and ensure they are being booked in the proper Accounts and Cost Centers
* Own and disseminate knowledge around relevant Systems

2. Supply Chain Finance & Inventory Costing:

* Responsible for overall accuracy of inventory balances and for ensuring all inventory related methodologies & processes are adhered to within O&G Canada P&Ls
* Ensure appropriate cost methodologies are used for various types of inventory (standard, average actual, average specific)
* Performing inventory costing duties across manufacturing and operations functions
* Perform standard cost rolls and review and resolve inter-site variances, purchase price, efficiency, etc.
* Review WIP open jobs analysis and drive closure
* Develop budgets for material, labor overhead liquidation and monitor hours into inventory
* Perform cost of goods sold calculation and margin analysis
* Perform analysis of obsolete & slow-moving inventories, partnering with Operations to minimize inventory write-offs
* Prepare analysis of aging of work-in-progress inventory
* Work with Finance Manager and Controllership Team to implement cycle count processes to ensure accuracy of inventory quantities on hand
* Perform analysis and develop bottoms-up estimates for operating plans, forecasts, reviews, etc.

3. Other:

* Support balance sheet analysis for key accounts and ensure appropriate backup is maintained for account reconciliation purposes
* Ensure adherence to financial policies and procedures with respect to financial reporting, consolidation and consistency across GE Oil & Gas
* Coordinate audits and reviews with Corporate Audit Staff and external auditors
* Perform internal audits and ensure controllership and consistency of accounting process across the operations, drive controllership awareness and processes through operations teams and ensure financial compliance
* Develop and implement simplification efforts of key operating processes
* Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Business Administration
* Minimum of 7 years of financial work experience being at least 2 years of experience in inventory costing in a manufacturing operations
* Subject matter expertise in inventory costing
* Demonstrate ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to communicate complex business issues in a clear/concise manner, including communications at the executive level
* Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence others and drive change while working across all levels, functions, and regions
* Strong critical thinking skills and ability to add value to operating teams
* Strong analytical skills with ability to clearly link financial results to operational performance drivers, generate alternatives and drive positive change
* Adaptable/flexible with ability to be open to change in response to new information, different or unexpected circumstances, and/or to work in ambiguous situations

* Solid PC skills including experience with financial systems/applications, strong Excel skills in data compilation and aggregation (i.e. pivot tables, V-Lookup and macros)
* Clear thinking/ problem solving: successfully led cross-functional projects/process improvement within operations/finance function involving process improvement; able to quickly understand new concepts
* Proactive attitude to simplify processes and tools/ Capacity to adapt to a changing environment
* Ability to manage simultaneously multiple tasks, promote team work, accountability and speed
* Graduate of GE's Financial Management Program (FMP), or graduate of other GE financial leadership programs
* Professional accountant designation (CA, CMA or CGA)
* Trained and/or certified in process improvement methodology such as LEAN or Six Sigma
* Experience working in a matrix environment
* Strong knowledge of Oil & Gas financial and commercial operating systems
