Reporting to the Director, Finance,
Administration and IT, you will provide guidance, leadership, and
expertise to the Society through the implementation and enhancement of
finance, budgeting, and reporting systems.
Managing and coordinating all financial
activities within the Finance Department in order to provide information
and services to internal and external users, you will work with
external investment counsellors to manage the Society’s Capital Fund
investment portfolio. In addition to guiding and managing budget
development and preparing statements, forecasts, and reports, you will
oversee audit processes, accounting policies and procedures, and provide
supervisory and training leadership.
You are a university graduate with an accounting designation such as CMA/CGA/CPA/CA or equivalent education and five years of progressively responsible budget, finance and accounting experience in a mid to large size organization. With solid knowledge of Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants generally accepted accounting and auditing principles and practices, particularly for a not-for-profit organization, you have an excellent practical understanding of various types of accounting including Fund Accounting, as well as demonstrated experience working with large computerized accounting systems such as Oracle. Able to work independently and in partnership with others, you have excellent communications and organizational skills. Your demonstrated understanding of, and commitment to, integrating the principles of equity, justice, non-discrimination, and accessibility into practice, service delivery, and team relationships are ideally supported by previous experience working in child welfare, a social service or not-for-profit organization funded by government.
