The Hybrid Solution Architect provides technical leadership for the definition, design, and implementation of Proficy-based Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) solutions. This requires working closely with GE Intelligent Platforms (GEIP) customers to understand and define requirements, set expectations, and develop the overall system architecture and design for MES project implementations. The incumbent in this position can be located anywhere in Canada.
The Hybrid Solution Architect will be required to identify the optimal set of GEIP products to use for the solution, identifies appropriate product application requirements as well as product fit and gaps, and determines the previously implemented templates applicable to the solution. The Hybrid Solution Architect also makes recommendations to balance scope versus project time and resource commitments to insure the program is feasible as committed.

Further, the incumbent will be required to:

• Proactively engage with customers in order to define the overall project requirements and technical approach for the MES solutions.
• Provide system level design and technical oversight of MES solution implementations.
• Interact with Product Development Team, Commercial Team, Customers, Solution Providers (Partner/Integrators), and other cross-functional teams as required for the solution.
• Develop and implement processes to ensure best use of GEIP products and services to meet MES deployment requirements.
• Establish broad review processes to improve and obtain support for the proposed solutions.
• Effectively leverage product capability, driving standardization, limiting customization, and maximizing reuse of content developed for previous MES solutions.
• Engage throughout the full lifecycle of assigned projects, influencing decisions on architecture, design, and functionality to keep programs on track in terms of budget, time, and customer expectations.
• Effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing, with peers and team members as an inclusive leader, supporting pre-sale strategy, services consulting efforts, and project execution.
• Effectively apply GEIP execution methodology and project standards.
• BS or MS degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or other related engineering field.
• 5+ years experience in industrial software services or product development functions.
• Experience with various types of manufacturing including, engineer to order, make to stock, and make to order processes for both discrete and process industries.
• Exposure to industry standard data models, such as S95, and key MES functions as defined by MESA.
• Experience in software analysis, design, quality assurance, SW methodology, and architecture.
• Demonstrated ability to learn new software development practices, languages, and tools.
• Experience with Windows, .NET, SQL databases, Web Services and SOA technologies.
• Experience with GEIP Proficy Products such as Proficy Plant Applications, Proficy Historian Proficy Real Time Information Portal and Proficy Datamart.
• Experience with enterprise software and large distributed systems.
• Minimum 3 years experience designing or implementing MES applications.
• Excellent communication skills, a team player, with ability to energize.
• Good organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to work as part of a team and as an individual contributor.
• Strong business acumen in a technical environment.
• Programming experience in software development with Microsoft Visual Studio / Development tools and C# programming.
• Proven ability to write clear, concise requirements, and design documents.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
• Ability and availability to travel throughout the United States up to 50%.
• Strong spoken and written English language skills.
• Must have unrestricted authorization to work in the country in which the position is located.
• Experience in manufacturing IT, infrastructure (power, water, mining, etc.)
• Experience with development in an ISO-certified environment.
