Job Summary
Execute
the music programming of the iTunes Store in Canada, merchandising new
releases and other feature content across multiple genres; Update
featuring daily, identifying new and priority releases, as well as
highlighting library content and showcase depth of catalogue; Work with
management in Canada and Cupertino to determine local and global
priorities relevant to iTunes. Manage the weekly scheduling and
programming process. Collaborate with other editorial programmers on
cross content initiatives and promotions. Communicate regularly with the
Marketing and Sales team in Canada to coordinate new releases and
priorities.
Key Qualifications
- Minimum of five years experience and knowledge in radio, retail, A&R, editorial, record labels, and/or any other music related field(s) is a requirement;
- Passion for, and vast knowledge of music across multiple genres and decades;
- Experience working within an integrated, digital media production team;
- Professional working knowledge of digital media, audio production, web programming and custom content management tools;
- Excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills;
- Unparalleled attention to detail;
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
- Ability to manage numerous projects on multiple platforms simultaneously;
- Ability to utilize resources appropriately;
- Passion for and technical knowledge of Apple products, including working knowledge of iTunes/Apple music products, and Apple operating systems (OSX, iOS);
- French-speaking / knowledge of the Quebec arts media industry is a definite asset.
- This is a position that resides in Toronto, Ontario at iTunes Canada headquarters.
- This position requires the ability to travel for business.
Description
The
Canadian Music Programmer will be responsible for the programming of
the iTunes Music store in Canada. This particular role will report
directly to the Head of Music for iTunes in Canada, and will be
responsible for working cross-functionally across a variety of teams
including Editorial, Label Relations, Marketing, Sales, Production &
Engineering, and more. The Canadian Music Programmer will be an
editorial voice for iTunes, and will be responsible for keeping the
product current. This person must have a passion for and deep knowledge
of music across numerous genres and decades, and must demonstrate the
ability to objectively program content relevant to iTunes customers.
This will include entering music into the content management system, and
creating seasonal and relevant editorial collections. This position
will be measured according to his/her ability to maintain and expand the
credible editorial voice of iTunes in Canada and present music
offerings that generate incremental sales.
Education
Bachelor’s Degree in arts/humanities Education in radio and communications arts / media is preferred.
