As part of Product Management, the Technical Writer is responsible for writing user guides, technicaldocumentation and quick how-to-guides as well as release notes for our web-based platform andapplications. This role is motivated to help users understand the product and how to best use it.

As part of Product Management, the Technical Writer is responsible for writing user guides, technicaldocumentation and quick how-to-guides as well as release notes for our web-based platform andapplications. This role is motivated to help users understand the product and how to best use it.
Responsibilities and Deliverables
- Designs and owns all product documentation and resources for the company (Coordinates, writesand delivers end-user documentation (i.e. user guides, release notes, support and trainingdocuments) and maintains and updates existing documentation in conjunction with product releaseschedule)
- Develop and implement a strong technical writing foundation for future team expansion
- Scripts and creates short "how-to" videos that quickly demonstrate key product features
- Organizes content and completes writing projects according to established methodology withstandards including order, clarity, conciseness, style, and terminology
- Works collaboratively with other Communications Specialists, Product Managers, Business Analysts,and Developers on projects
- Takes ownership of all product documentation including creative direction, and style
- Demonstrates clear understanding of audience and creates content accordingly
- Aid company-wide knowledge management through exemplary use of our internal KnowledgeManagement tools
- Learn the product through hands-on experience as a member of the product team
- Reports to the Vice President – Product Management EHSQ Solutions.
- Builds and maintains relationships with cross-functional teams within the organization.
- 5+ years of experience as a Technical Writer
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in software (preferably a SAAS environment)
- Experience with large-scale, web-based enterprise software
- Strong Project Management skills to drive the product documentation development
- Analytical, independent and highly research focused.
- Hands-on knowledge of media production, communication and dissemination techniques andmethods, including alternative methods to inform and educate via written, oral, social and visualmedia
- Superior written and oral communication skills with proven analytical skills
- Exceptional attention to detail, ability to set priorities and manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Ability to work independently with minimum supervision as well as work effectively within a team
- Proven ability to collaborate with Business Analysts, Product Managers, Software Developers, QAAnalysts as well as other staff to understand and document new products and product enhancements
- Knowledge of context sensitive help implementation to help simplify user interfaces
- Enthusiasm for new technologies and the latest trends in technical writing and help issues
- Experience using help authoring tools (i.e. Robohelp, FrameMaker, the Adobe Photoshop, AdobeAcrobat, etc.)
- Post-secondary degree/diploma in essay-based program (i.e. Communication, English, Journalism,etc.)
