JOB DESCRIPTION:
The System Designer is responsible to ensure architectural optimization, alignment and standardization of products and solutions within a given product range and/or technology and/or platform. This work shall be done in perspective of the current and future business needs in the area.
A product is a pre-defined package as defined in the product, platform and service portfolios defined to cover a specific area of business need.


MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

The System Designer is overall accountable to ensure that the assigned products and solutions within his/her area are designed in the best possible way for Ericsson with focus on:
·      Meeting Ericsson’s business needs and securing high product and solution quality in combination with total cost efficiency
·      Ensuring architectural optimization, alignment and standardization of products and solutions and/or technology and/or platform
·      Ensuring development of global solutions and optimizing the reuse of existing platforms/technology as well as already developed solutions and functions
The System Designer is responsible for the following activities related to the design of assigned solutions and products:
·      Architecture and design decisions for solutions, products and services
·      The System Designer has the authority to enforce decisions delegated from the Product Owner or Strategic Product Manager

MAIN ACTIVITIES:

·      Work with strategy and architecture to ensure alignment of product design to the strategies and architectural frameworks for CSDP
·      Participate with product / solution / technology/ platform expertise in Architecture, Road Map and Strategy initiatives
·      Provide product and solution advice and guidance in relevant meetings and activities
·      Secure mitigation of cross solution impacts and manage dependencies
·      Represent the solution area in product reference group or similar end-user communities
·      Support the Strategic Product Manager in allocating and bringing in necessary expertise for the solution area internal assignments
·      Review and be part in approving development cost estimates
·      Analyze and enrich key demands, ensure impact analysis and refine requirements and high-level design
·      Ensure that the solution meets usability-, functional- and non-functional requirements and information quality requirements
·      Prepare logical and conceptual solution development specifications
·      Support Service Delivery in product development and implementation related activities and projects
·      Write and review Statement of Compliance documents and customer solution descriptions
·      Lead and perform advisory studies and pre-studies
 
 
RECOMMENDED MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

· Education - Bachelor's degree in Engineering/Computer Science or equivalent. Minimum 10 years in the telecommunication or IT industry.

The position is based in Montreal, there may be a requirement to travel to customer sites, in the Americas and globally as the business dictates.
