Purpose
The principal purpose of this position is to
perform material movement duties in the warehouse, including
controlling/managing incoming inventory, interacting with customers and
carriers to arrange shipping. This position will require regular
loading and unloading of shipments. The Shipper/Receiver must be
capable of repetitive heavy lifting and be able to use any equipment
when necessary, e.g lift truck, fork lift, etc. They are also
accountable for the inspection of incoming shipments and must verify
its contents for quality assurance. The Shipper/Receiver plays a
crucial role in other business functions and must efficiently manage
incoming inventory and maintain excellent relations with shipping
companies. Other duties may be assigned that pertain to the
classification. Knowledge of all duties is to be cross-functional but
specific duties are assigned within available personnel.
Primary Responsibilities
- Unpacking and inspection of received goods for damage and count
- Assembling containers and crates, pack goods to be shipped and affix proper identifying information and shipping instructions
- Arranging for carriers for customer shipments, and coordinating for customer pick‐ups as necessary.
- May operate forklift, hand truck or other equipment to load and store goods
- Coordinating other non‐stock shipments
- Lending support to inside/outside sales staff
- Maintaining order of the warehouse and proper storage of goods.
- Maintaining and correcting computer stocking system daily for inventory changes
- Verifying packing slips to purchase orders
- Conducting monthly cycle counts for inventory
- Final testing and shipping of product
Education Requirement
- High school diploma
- Forklift certification
- College certificate/diploma an asset
Required Experience
- 4‐8 years of shipping and/or warehouse experience
