We are currently looking for a Lawyer.

Reporting to the Vice-President, Legal and Government Affairs, the Senior Lawyer, in addition to the responsabilities of the Lawyer (see Lawyer profile), works on a variety of matters having strategic importance for the company in commercial law as well as in any other field of law as needed, in addition to assisting the Vice-President in his various responsabilities.

Summary of tasks:

Legal Affairs: Handles files requiring a more profound understanding of the market and customers in order to elaborate business strategies and solutions which will positively impact the company’s performance. In his or her analysis and understanding of our business, make connections between issues involving different departments and evaluate the impacts this may have on the company’s business processes. In the absence of the Vice-President, Legal & Government Affairs, will be able to take decisions necessary to answer internal and external clients’ needs while always safeguarding the company’s interests. Supports the Vice-President, Legal & Government Affairs in the development of business strategies. Will be a reference for other colleagues within his areas of expertise. Provides legal support to the Contract & Pricing Team in major negotiations with customers. Provides legal support to the Patent Group on strategic files.

Compliance & Risk Management: Plays a leading role in risk management within the organization and is involved in files that can have a critical impact on the company. Is able to use his or her leadership and soft skills to influence decisions and outcomes even if he or she does not have any supervisory powers over other people. o NEM team Legal representative. o participate in Local Recall Committee meetings.

Administrative: Participates in the development of the Legal Department’s annual corporate objectives. Supports the Vice-President, Legal & Government Affairs in his administrative tasks including coaching of the department’s employees. Supervision of Legal Affairs student. Provides training to new employees as part of the Integration Program for all new Sandoz Canada’s employees. Supports the Vice-President, Legal & Government Affairs, in his reporting tasks including reporting of litigation and other legal matters to the Sandoz North American and Global organizations. Will have regular contact will other Sandoz and Novartis affiliates.
Bachelor's degree with professional accreditation (law, bar association);
French and English;
Minimum of eight (8) years; Commercial law, litigation, intellectual property, especially in the pharmaceutical industry;
At least five (5) to seven (7) years of experience in the drafting and negotiation of Business Development & Licensing agreements required.
