Overview
Vega has a 13 month maternity leave contract available for a Human
Resources Manager at Vega’s head office in Burnaby, BC. Reporting to the
VP of Corporate Services, the Human Resources Manager oversees all HR
operations for Canada and the US. You value integrity; you take

Key Responsibilities
Compensation & Benefits
- Manage Vega’s compensation levels and ranges
- Analyze and modify compensation and benefits policies to establish competitive programs
- Manage the annual Performance Review and Merit Increase Program
- Provide advice and guidance to managers on compensation
- Oversee the Quarterly Goal Setting & Bonus program and the payroll and benefits function
Recruitment & On-Boarding
- Oversee all recruitment and on boarding activities as completed by the HR Coordinator
- Advise and support managers with recruiting and staffing logistics
- Support managers with the creation of new hire initial on boarding and training programs
Learning & Development
- Manage and provide support for the annual Coaching and Career Development program
- Assists in the development of training programs, training objectives, plans, policies and procedures
Communication & Engagement
- Manage and conduct iThrive Goal Setting sessions
- Manage the iThrive Social Media Engagement and Recognition programs
- Manage and provide analysis/results for the Vega Viewpoint employee engagement program
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with all stakeholders to
understand business needs and deliver effective and efficient HR
solutions
- Participate in creating a culture where people are engaged,
empowered, and have the opportunity to do what they do best every day
Employee Relations
- Advise and coach managers on employee relations issues, performance improvement, disciplinary action, and terminations
- Oversee the employee off boarding process as performed by the HR Coordinator
- Support and provide advice to employees with questions and concerns
Continuous Improvements
- Manage direct reports to optimize performance, including day-to-day
coaching and long term development (1 HR Coordinator and 1
Payroll/Benefits Administrator)
- Oversee the preparation of HR metric reports and analyze by summarizing data and trends
- Develop and maintain a network of external contacts to maintain
awareness of HR best practices and benchmark Vega’s HR practices against
other top companies
- Ensure ongoing process improvement in all aspects of HR
- Research and recommend HR related programs and improvements
- Ensure legislative compliance in HR, payroll, and workplace safety
- Prepare, review and submit all employer award applications
Skills and Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of progressive HR experience with at least 1 year leading a team
- Degree or Diploma specializing in HR or suitable combination of education and experience
- Experience managing payroll and benefits is a strong asset
- Solid leadership skills with the ability to manage directly
reporting staff and provide specialized guidance and expertise to all
levels of the organization
- Excellent communication skills and ability to quickly establish credibility and build relationships based on trust
- Excellent working knowledge of HR best practices and methodologies
- Strong employee relations experience is required, including conflict resolution, performance improvement, and terminations
- Knowledge of the theories, principles, practices, methods, and techniques used for compensation and benefits
- Proven ability to analyze problems, identify key information and
issues, interpret data and determine implications, provide
recommendations, and effectively resolve
- Superior ability to work successfully in a team environment and independently
- Actively develops and maintains a network of external contacts to maintain awareness of HR best practices
- Sound project management skills with the ability to shape and implement change
