Job description
IBM RSoC offers risk managers, portfolio managers, traders, and quantitative analysts a robust risk management and portfolio modelling environment to monitor, manage, and optimize risk across all asset classes and investment strategies. Hosted by IBM and delivered over the internet, IBM RSoC provides access to state-of-the-art risk measurement and investment support tools through a sophisticated and flexible graphical user interface.
In the IBM RSoC Delivery and Production Support team, Associate Technical Consultants provide the technical expertise to integrate and maintain the automated processes associated with IBM's RSoC.

Responsibilities

  • Review the technical scope of implementation projects and identify potential concerns or areas that are outside the scope of the standard service.
  • Document the technical design and approach for implementation projects, and ensure that the associated effort is represented in the project plan.
  • Participate in technical designs reviewed in order to align with best practices and to maintain high-quality standards.
  • Assist in the design and development of data integration and mapping scripts to seamlessly transfer data from vendors and internal source systems into IBM's RSoC.
  • Configure and automate the overnight batch process for daily operations.
  • Assist in the design and develop of system monitoring and re-start scripts for support of system operation as required.
  • Initialize and maintain Development, QA, UAT and Production environments.
  • Assist in the management of the migration process and deploy changes to the environments.
  • Assist in the investigation of system operations and performance issues.
  • Periodic on-call support may be required.

    Qualifications
  • Skills in System Analysis, Implementation, Testing, Debugging
  • Experience with Linux systems (Red Hat, CentOS preferred)
  • Experience with RDBMS and good handle on SQL
  • Experience with data ETL with csv and databases using scripting and object oriented languages
  • Good understanding of programming paradigms and good practices. Able to optimize code to reduce complexity and run time.
  • Familiarity with the OSI model and understanding of the inner workings of underlying communication protocols such as TCP/IP, UDP, FTP, HTTP, SSL and SOAP.
  • Positive attitude, highly motivated, organized, outgoing and works well under pressure
  • Strong investigation and problem solving skills.
  • Experience with XML is an asset
  • Knowledge of market risk management concepts and experience with financial applications and trading systems a definite asset!
  • Ability to provide outstanding customer service to both internal and external clients
  • Ability to work independently and with a fast paced, team oriented environment.
  • Ability to communicate complex solutions clearly and concisely to individuals at all levels of the organization – both verbally and written.

    Education

    University degree: Computer Science or Computer Engineering or equivalent.
    Experience in IT or Professional Services industry via co-op programs, work terms, or equivalent
