    Overview
    This role applies the principles of service excellence and conducts strategic/cross functional planning and is fully accountable for the operational and financial performance of their respective area. Manages the operation of the branch, including general insurance and provides direct supervision, leadership, coaching and mentoring to the Insurance Services Manager, Assistant Branch Manager, Service Supervisor and Personal Account Managers. The manager is fully accountable for the setting and achievement of branch and insurance critical success factors.

    Accountabilities
    • Ensure overall branch and insurance sales and service strategy, marketing plans, and operations are aligned with the strategic direction and long term critical success factors of the organization. Work with the management team to implement strategies. Provide leadership within a proactive, consultative sales environment with overall accountability to ensure branch and insurance sales, referrals, and growth targets are met.
    • Evaluate performance of assigned staff members on an ongoing informal basis. Conduct regular quarterly coaching and formal performance reviews; identify the need for additional development and/or performance improvement, facilitate learning and skills certification, set performance standards and objectives, and initiate disciplinary action up to termination as required.
    • Analyze, recommend solutions and/or resolve complex problems referred by staff members relating to sales and service delivery; identify and refer sales and referral opportunities to appropriate branch and insurance sales person; resolve risk management problems as they relate to security issues such as robbery or fraud; approve loans in excess of branch staff lending limits and oversee that the security compliance report standards are met.
    • In partnership with Human Resources and branch team participate in the recruitment of branch and insurance staff by conducting interviews and consulting on candidate suitability prior to making a final selection.
    • Participate in the development of employee success factors and setting of specific objectives, monitoring branch and insurance progress on a regular basis to evaluate results and initiating corrective action as necessary.
    • Promote the organization within the community by participating in community service clubs and supporting community events. Seek opportunities to promote the organization and to develop personal business, refer sales opportunities and new contacts to appropriate staff.
    • Where branch structure does not include an Assistant Branch Manager, acts as the branch compliance officer for PCMLTFA (Proceeds of Crime Money Laundering Terrorist Financing Act), money laundering legislation with responsibility for understanding the legislative requirements, ensuring all branch staff are current in their money laundering training and communicating any updates/changes to branch staff as directed by the Corporate Security department.

    EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

    ·    Minimum 5 years experience in leadership/management capacity along with sales management coaching experience
    ·    In-depth lending skills and knowledge are required
    ·    Commercial lending and/or related education, considered an asset

    ·     Fellow of the Institute of Canadian Bankers [FICB]
    ·     Bachelor of Commerce

    ·    Leadership and Management programs including: Financial Management, Marketing Management, Strategic Management and Human Resources Management or equivalent
