Senior Advisor, Business Banking

(Business Account Manager) Cowichan Valley

Island Savings has an exciting opportunity for a full-time Senior Advisor, Business Banking covering our Cowichan Valley area.

Our successful candidate will be responsible for developing deep and strong relationships with business members, and growing members’ portfolios through a high level of proactive personalized service consistent with the Relationship Strategy, our Guiding Principles, and Service Standards.  In this position you will be a key member of the management team, responsible for elements of management and coaching while having an intense focus on building relationships and sales. 

Success in this position will require (but is not limited to):

• Exceptional Interviewing, relationship-building and sales skills.
• The ability to collect, compile and verify credit information; analyze business financial statements, operating cycles of specific industries and businesses, fluctuating profit levels, factors affecting cash flow and other commercial variables affecting loan viability.
• Demonstration of profitability and appropriate pricing of products and services, and negotiation of terms and conditions within established policy and legal parameters.
• Structuring commercial loans, lines of credit and overdrafts within approved lending limits.
• Providing financial counselling and reviewing short-term and long-term needs, soliciting retail business where appropriate.
• 2 years + experience in business banking or a minimum of 4 years as a personal/retail banker in the financial services industry.
• Completion of a relevant University Degree or Business Diploma from an accredited College or University with specific coursework in Finance, Accounting, or Economics.  
• Licenses/designations that would be assets include the CFP designation, Canadian Securities Course, CA, CMA or CGA.
