Within EY's US tax practice, we are currently
seeking an experienced Senior Tax Staff to participate in multiple and
challenging tax compliance engagements in our Toronto Private Mid-Market
(PMM) entrepreneurial practice. The PMM practice focuses exclusively on
being trusted business advisors to private entities and their
shareholders.
The ideal candidate is a dynamic and
entrepreneurially motivated individual who wishes to grow a long term
career in advising private businesses.
The candidate will also help contribute to the
delivery of innovative tax planning ideas for our diverse clients within
the broader US tax practice. We help our clients identify and solve
complex US and international tax issues and assist them in successfully
aligning all of the different areas of taxation into a benefit-driven
strategy. This position offers excellent opportunities for learning and

Responsibilities
• Prepare US Federal, State and local corporate and personal tax return for simple to medium complexity tax returns
• Demonstrate a strong understanding of tax concepts and effectively apply tax knowledge to client situations
• Be able to work independently on client allocation load to ensure balance between tax compliance filing deadlines and client expectations
• Research tax filing positions and make informed decisions in complex and judgmental areas
• Develop and deliver innovative tax planning ideas with timely and responsive services and work product that meet and/or exceed client expectations
• Thoroughly and accurately analyze information
• Prepare practical and creative solutions to the client's tax situation and arrive at appropriate conclusions
• Pursue/share knowledge to develop professionally and enhance service delivery. Identify and sell opportunities for tax planning and other special services
• Leverage technology to continually maximize productivity
• Encourage communication and effectively supervise team members.
• Participate in recruiting efforts when necessary
• Contribute to a flexible, stable, and team-oriented working culture that fosters personal development

To qualify for this challenging and rewarding position that

• a bachelor's degree, preferably in accounting;
• an advanced degree in tax is highly desirable
• an accounting designation
• minimum of 2 to 3 years of comprehensive U.S. tax experience
• excellent supervisory, analytical, and leadership ability

• a commitment to learning in a tax technology environment.
