Position Description
The Elemental Reference Data Group is looking for a talented software lead/engineer to join the team and help drive key technology and business projects within the Practice Area which includes various enterprise reference data systems like Business Rules, Integration services for reference data, Tools and processes for management of reference data etc. These systems are used by all Morgan Stanley businesses worldwide.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate an eagerness to learn the existing platforms and be proactive in designing and building the next generation of systems to meet the business demands.
The candidate will also be able to handle competing demands including both tactical and strategic initiatives, manage and meet aggressive deadlines and work within a globally distributed team. The role will offer a good opportunity for those looking to make a difference to a major business division.
Skills Required
-- Proven technical experience leading and developing significant technology projects to both business and technology users
-- Strong understanding of Java technology (Core Java, J2EE)
-- Experience in Front end development (e.g. using JavaScript UI toolkit Ext JS, JSON) as well as middle tier Soap and web service (e.g. Apache CXF)
-- Understanding of Spring & Hibernate
--Knowledge of unix tools and scriptiong (Perl, ksh/bash, autosys)
-- Experience with enterprise messaging systems, including message queues and pub/sub
-- Understanding of design patterns
-- Understanding of RDBMS concepts and working with procedures, triggers and indexes for both Sybase and DB2
-- Strong Understanding of SDLC methodologies
-- Proven exceptional analytical and problem solving skills
-- Strong communication, organizational and collaboration skills
-- Solid understanding of source code management practices and experience with one of the major SCM tools (preferably Perforce)
-- Experience supervising a small team of developers
