IBM Information Management Software develops markets and sells a broad range of software products and solutions. The combination of individual Database Servers, Master Data Management Solutions, Content Management and Discovery Solutions, Business Intelligence/Data Accelerators and Data Warehouse products can together deliver Information On Demand. The IBM Toronto Laboratory is the largest software development site in Canada. A dynamic team of 2,500 highly skilled professionals who develop, test, service and market our products are among the most talented in the industry. The Toronto Lab has worldwide missions within IBM for DB2 database technology, WebSphere development and integration tools, WebSphere commerce and Tivoli provisioning software. These products run on all IBM systems using a wide variety of operating systems, including AIX, Linux, HP-UX, Sun Solaris, Microsoft Windows and z/OS. In 2001, the Toronto Lab moved into a new state-of-the-art development facility in a park-like setting north of Toronto. The 600,000 sq.ft. building includes a fitness centre, bistros and cafes, oasis areas and games rooms, with wireless technology throughout the facility. We are looking for candidates who will be responsible for providing technical support to worldwide customers using "DB2 Universal Database" in their business solution. The candidates responsibilities will consist of performing deep problem diagnosis and ensuring that high-quality solutions are made available to customers in a timely and effective manner. This position requires a leader who is not only technically savvy but exemplifies solid project management skills and is an excellent communicator. In addition, you must also be a strong team player who has the proven ability to foster working relationships with cross functional teams. DB2 UDB is supported 24 hours a day 7 days a week, and as a result, weekend and/or evening work may be required. Qualifications: • Familiarity with Operating System concepts or working with Linux, Unix and Windows environments is an asset • Demonstrated C, C++ and/or Java programming skills • Computer Science graduates or Computer Science minor with Electrical Engineering or Physics major • Demonstrated problem determination / debugging skills with proficiency in logic or combinatorial mathematics or equivalent • Knowledge of shell scripting in UNIX is an asset • Excellent verbal and written communication skills • Understanding of Relational Database theory - DB2 experience preferable | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
