By 2020, there will be 50 billion connections to the internet, whereby anything that can benefit from an internet connection will be connected (i.e. Networked Society). Over the last 4 years Ericsson has invested billions of dollars to move from the #1 position in Wireless Infrastructure to take claim as the #1 in end-to-end Converged Infrastructure. There are not many players that have end-to-end capability. There are a whole host of challenges you face when creating a single, fully converged, infrastructure for Service Providers.
The Line Card Software Team is seeking a talented embedded systems developer, with 3 to 6 years of industry experience. In this role, you will work on leading edge projects for the Smart Services Router. You’ll have a wide scope, and depth, of constantly growing responsibilities including full life-cycle development.
We are looking for an engineer that has an interest in developing software, passion for solving complex problems with a solid work ethic and team player attitude. This person will be one of several engineers working within a team of experienced software and hardware engineers. This role will contribute to the design, development, debug, integration and support of certain software features resident on Smart Services Router line cards.

Required Competence / Experience
The ideal candidate will hold a Bachelors or Master’s degree in Computer Science, EE, or related technical degree, self-motivated and have experience with several of the following:
Bare Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, EE, or related technical degree
2+ years of development experience with Multi-Threaded C programming in an Embedded Linux environment

- C Programming Language development of embedded systems
- Linux system software Bring-up
- Design, Develop and debug device drivers in kernel and user space
- Full life-cycle systems software development in Unix/Linux environment
- Work collaboratively with test engineering to ensure best-in-class systems software reliability and performance
- Create implementation specifications, design documents and unit test plans
- Perform design and code reviews
- Demonstrate good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions
- Support other software development centers in several geographical sites
- Pro-active communication inside product team.

- 3 years or more of overall systems software development experience

- Linux Device Driver development
- Embedded development in Linux OS
- Hardware bring-up and debugging
- Multi-Threaded programming in C

Experience and knowledge of the following is preferred:
- Linux Scripting languages (Bash, Perl, Python)
- Intel x86 and PowerPC processor architectures
- Switch fabrics
- Source code control systems such as GIT
