The Android Software Engineer will be responsible for the fulfillment of the development, design and operational maintenance of the G Adventures native Android application.
Our team is enthusiastic and involved in the Toronto tech scene, attending conferences such as iOS Tech Talks, DemoCamp, AndroidTO, EcommerceCamp, PyCon, and DjangoCon. Beyond the tech world, there are great travel perks and a vibrant entrepreneurial culture. G Adventures remains wholly owned by its founder, Bruce Poon Tip, which fosters an environment akin to a nimble start-up, with the perks of an established company, but without the long hours.
Responsibilities:
Write out specs for applications that are to be developed and are inline with the iOS application
Ensure end-to-end web-application tier integration and develop all interfaces for production
Work with our application development teams and business unit to deliver and implement new and enhanced services for their product lines
Write necessary code and perform tests required to implement changes to the application that meet the business needs in a reliable and dependable manner
Continually ensure the mobile application is operating, accessible and fully functional, with minimum downtime
Provide assistance to users and other developers in the use, correction, further development of the application, including integration with other company software and new solutions
Requirements:
1-3 years of relevant, professional work experience
Experience developing Android applications and solid understanding of Android ecosystem
Knowledge of Android UI frameworks and XML box model
Expert experience with Java, HTML, CSS, JavaScript
Experience with a variety of RESTful APIs and 3rd party integrations
Experience with source control systems (eg. Subversion, GIT)
Strong knowledge of Software design life cycle
Familiarity working in a Mac and Unix environment
