A day in the life…
As a department manager, you’ll wear many hats — you’ll be a
mentor, your team’s biggest fan, as well as a driver of business. In
this role, you’ll set the example by…
- Being all about your team — from recruiting, hiring and training, to developing and motivating them. You’ll lead by example how to set and exceed personal and company goals while emphasizing the importance of delivering amazing customer service every day.
- Using your knowledge of shoes and business skills to create a solid business plan that enables your team to work together to meet department, store and individual productivity goals.
- Partnering with the merchant team to ensure you have the merchandise your customers will love.
- Ensuring the department stays “runway ready” by maintaining merchandising and presentation standards through stocking, re-merchandising and straightening throughout the day.
- Sharing your knowledge and excitement about the latest in shoe fashion — from strappy sandals to professional wingtips, and everything in between — with your team and customers.
- Building long-lasting relationships and creating a loyal customer following by actively selling on the floor, in addition to your managerial duties.
