Position Overview
The Information Technology Department supports application development and maintenance of systems for the various business units of the client and its subsidiaries.  The Electronic Trading Application Analyst position requires a self-starting, problem solving, motivated individual who enjoys working in a dynamic trading environment.  The successful candidate will join an internal team of technical trading specialists who support the current Global One and Equilend trading platform environments and work closely with the Business and Technology groups to drive towards strategic objectives. This role is located in Toronto.
Main responsibilities:
* Provide application analysis, on-going development and support of the Global One and Equilend trading system and all lines of business activity that it supports
* Update existing Perl, Shell, and Java
* Contribute to successful completion of project deliverables
* Provide solutions or recommendations to technical issues
* Respect deadlines and communicate progress to the business and technology management team;
* Requirements Analysis--Knowledge of activities, tasks, practices and deliverables associated with eliciting and clearly defining and documenting required business functionality as well as information requirements.
Requirements:
* Possesses solid analytical skills for complex problem solving.
* Advanced knowledge of Unix shell scripting and Perl scripting; comfortable in Unix environment
* Possesses a university degree/college diploma in applied technologies - experience in systems analysis and programming
* Possesses advanced knowledge of design and analysis methodology and application development processes
* Demonstrates advanced understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), Quality Assurance requirements and software development control and release procedures.
* Previous experience working with Capital Markets desks
* Superior verbal and written communication skills
* Nice to have knowledge - Java, MQ Series, Order Management Systems, FIX, RDBMS
* Previous experience working with Capital Markets desks
* Superior verbal and written communication skills
* Knowledge and experience with Trading and Securities Finance applications (like equity trading, securities lending and Repo) or completion of Canadian Security Certification is an asset
