Commercial Lending
Our commercial lending department has experienced significant growth in the past year and is a key element of our business strategy for the future. With a solid management team in place with over 80 years combined commercial lending experience and a secure book of business approaching $20 million, we are preparing for the next stage of growth and require a commercial lending support officer.
The Role
A full-time, entry level role, the Commercial Lending Support Officer’s primary responsibility will be the administration of our commercial portfolio, working closely with the Commercial Lending Manager and Commercial Lending Consultants. The role provides a unique opportunity to learn the commercial lending business first hand from industry veterans and to make a visible contribution to the success of the team.
In addition, the successful candidate will gain experience in all aspects of retail banking through exposure to several divisions within the Estonian Credit Union. As a potential management track position, the incumbent will receive training and job experience in member services, retail lending, accounting and IT, in a professional, friendly and intimate environment, working closely with each manager in the various departments. This position is very important to the future growth of the Estonian Credit Union and is an excellent stepping stone for an individual who thrives in an atmosphere where multi-tasking and the ability to learn quickly and perform efficiently are necessary assets. Primary Responsibilities
- Monitor & maintain commercial portfolio, updating documentation and registrations when necessary
- Participate in the addition of new loans to the commercial portfolio by assisting in the application process; control annual review process
- Cross-sell credit union products and services, maintaining up-to-date knowledge of lending and deposit services and products
- Communicate with various business partners including borrowers, legal representation, brokers, and other financial institutions
- Open and close member accounts, and complete corresponding paperwork, staying in compliance with credit union and government policies and regulations
- Process deposits, withdrawals, and contributions to registered plans
- Perform specialized tasks such as processing daily cheque clearing, preparing official cheques, personal money orders, wire orders, and exchanging foreign currency
- Maintain organized and up-to-date credit union records
- Explain, advise on and promote credit union products and services to members
- Demonstrate the credit union’s corporate values in day to day work, external communications, and interpersonal relations
- University degree in business / commerce
- Interest in learning more about financial analysis and business relations
- Desire to provide an exceptional experience and service for members, applicants, brokers and syndication partners
- Independence, ability to work with minimal supervision and handle multiple priorities, ability to identify requirements and source solutions
