The Small Business Services division in American Express is one of the fastest growing and most dynamic businesses within the organization. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Business Development (Inside Sales), the new Sales Manager will be responsible for the day to day leadership and management of a group of Inside Sales Business Development Executives (BDE). The primary responsibility of each BDE is to acquire new small business card customers by leveraging a variety of tactics (e.g marketing industry lists, warm leads, cold calls, referrals etc) and grow billings. Additionally each BDE must deliver against set annual sales targets.
The key responsibility of the new Sales Manager leading a group of 10-15 BDE’s is to create a cohesive, high performing team that will achieve success: by delivering against sales targets; effectively managing new small business customers by demonstrating the value of American Express Small Business cards; and building customer loyalty early in the customer onboarding journey.
Principle Accountabilities:
* Deliver Against Sales Targets: ensure the teams have the product knowledge, sales processes and reporting in place to successfully identify prospects and effectively sell the SBS product range to maximize spend enablement and market penetration.
* Coaching & Development: provide day to day guidance and coaching to the Business Development Executives to ensure targets are achieved and key performance metrics are met.
* Partner with the Marketing and Product Teams: to align sales campaign strategies, goals and lead generation that drive new account acquisition to achieve customer billings targets.
* Build Strategic Internal Relationships: Effectively collaborate with internal stake holders and leverage these relationships to ensure client satisfaction and spend enablement (e.g credit, risk, new accounts)
* Talent Development: Effectively identify, train and develop overall talent for the team while providing a motivating sales environment where best practices can be shared and employees can be developed
Qualifications
* Strong B2B Sales and Sales leadership experience with demonstrable experience of driving success through others
* Ability to coach and develop team members to maximize performance while proactively managing performance issues
* Proven track record of consistent sales success and the ability to create a high performing team environment that motivates individuals to exceed sales goals
* Proven experience creating a high performing team with a team oriented environment
* Strong forecasting and efficient pipeline management skills.
* Excellent analytical skills and business acumen
* Working knowledge of Salesforce.com similar pipeline management tools
* Superior oral and written communication and relationship building abilities.
* Excellent time management skills
