Position Summary:
The Chain-of-Custody (CoC) Coordinator will coordinate and manage the execution of Rainforest Alliance CoC certification services for a subset of new and existing Rainforest Alliance clients across Canada. S/he will be directly involved in all aspects of CoC certification assessments and audits including scheduling, project management, customer service, management of contract auditors and quality control. The CoC Coordinator will also be expected to participate in projects as an auditor.
Responsibilities:
Task Management
  • Under supervision of the CoC Manager, manage the execution of Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) chain of custody assessments and audits across Canada, to include budgeting, service contracts, team identification, logistical planning, support to consultants, report review, liaison with clients and finalizing reports for approval;
  • Develop and implement annual audit schedules and ensure timely and efficient completion of annual audits;
  • Ensure efficiency, quality control and adherence to Rainforest Alliance technical and administration certification protocols for all jobs directly under his/her responsibilities;
  • Act as CoC lead auditor on selected CoC assessments and audits;
  • Coordinate with consultants on agreements, scope of work, and monitor and approve resulting deliverables;
  • Develop strong expertise in Rainforest Alliance and FSC chain of custody policies and protocols;
  • Act as primary point of contact in CoC client correspondence and responding to inquiries relating to chain of custody certification;
  • Cooperate with and support others on the Rainforest Alliance team in the execution and coordination of CoC client recruitment, assessments and audits and other projects;
  • Provide monthly expense and progress reports to the CoC Manager;
  • Provide input for Rainforest Alliance policy development and technical improvements to the certification system; and
  • Other duties as assigned.
Marketing/Sales
  • Promote certification and verification services in Canada;
  • Give presentations and attend meetings, as needed, to promote Rainforest Alliance and FSC certification;
  • Support the development and launch of new products and services and assist in field testing; and
  • Contribute to developing client recruitment strategies for regional market segments.
Training/Development
  • Assist in the development of materials and programs to train consultants to perform assessments and audits as required;
  • Provide input for policy development and technical improvements to the certification system; and
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Forestry, Natural Resource Management, Forest Ecology or related field required;
  • Minimum of two years of work experience in the forest product industry, print industry, agricultural industry, or related field;
  • Written and verbal fluency in English required;
  • Written and verbal fluency in French preferred;
  • Environmental management system auditor training experience preferred;
  • Knowledge of Rainforest Alliance Certification and/or FSC a plus;
  • Strong computer skills (word processing, databases, spreadsheets) and presentation skills;
  • Strong organizational, multi-tasking skills and attention to detail;
  • Initiative, self-motivation, resourcefullness, dependability;
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills;
  • Strong customer service skills;
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team; and
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 20 percent of the time.
Salary:
Commensurate with experience.
