This position is for a Websphere / Middleware administrator to support Websphere Application Server, Websphere Process Server, and HTTP on the z/os platform. The position is located at the IBM office in Markham and at the customer site.
Web middleware support SA will:
  • Install or Uninstall Middleware software
  • Configure and administer Middleware software
  • Apply Middleware software patches, hot-fixes, and service packs
  • Communicate End-of-Support dates and new product release information to account team
  • Perform middleware system software level recovery
  • Respond to requests for information about Middleware software or operations from IBM account teams
  • Maintain Operational Procedures documentation for Middleware operations.
  • Perform startup and shutdown of middleware
  • Deploy customer application code/content changes
  • Perform application instance configuration Deployment or Removal
  • Create, implement, manage scripts
  • Perform Middleware problem determination and problem resolution
  • Perform root cause analysis of Middleware software outages
  • Manage problem tickets per Problem Management process
  • Coordinate problem resolution activities
  • Open help requests with Middleware software vendor support
  • Perform problem trend analysis to prevent problem recurrence and to improve service levels
  • Participate in change review and approval processes
  • Implement and test changes to Middleware software
  • Coordinate and communicate Middleware software change activities
  • Manage change tickets per Change Management Process
  • Analyze and improve change services levels
  • Audit problem and change records for process compliance
  • Create new Change Record
  • Conduct security compliance activities per contractual security requirements
  • Maintain Middleware software security compliance
  • Review & assess security vulnerability alerts
  • Perform Middleware software health checks
  • Document and report health check results
  • Document and report Middleware software security alert response
  • Manage access control lists for Middleware software
  • Manage SSL Certificates and Keys
  • Perform middleware product log file rotation, pruning, and archiving
  • Configure device security policies
  • Enable new functionality to devices
  • Define network routing rules, and ensure connectivity through firewall zones is established.
  • Work on Web middleware projects as assigned, including sizing, planning and implementation activities.
  • Required
    • High School Diploma/GED
    • At least 10 years experience in Websphere Application Server on z/OS
    • At least 10 years experience in Websphere MQ on z/OS
    • At least 7 years experience in Familiarity with Mainframe monitoring products and solutions
    • English: Fluent
    Preferred
    • Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology
