The
Operations leader is a senior role within the services team responsible
for all aspects of the services operations. Metric accountability,
shop oversight, process implementation and continuous improvement,
process standardization, employee management and safety. This role
involves significant customer and senior leadership exposure and
interaction within GE Transportation and at CN.
The individual will be primarily responsible for:
• Ownership of the shops in Toronto, Winnipeg, Edmonton, Price
George, Chicago and Memphis, responsible for staff, systems, processes
and material to support the service agreement and customer needs.
• Focal point for the operational execution of initiatives around
restructuring, organizational effectiveness and other strategic
opportunities on the account.
• Preparing and presenting both operational and executive
presentations to internal GE leadership and external customer
leadership.
• Working closely with engineering, quality, finance and risk teams
to flow customer needs and operating challenges for updates and/or for
issue resolution.
• Project support as required to meet business or customer needs.
Responsible for quality metrics / processes and measures including
but not limited to Rx reissue, workscope compliance, repeaters etc
This role can be based in Winnipeg or Edmonton
• Bachelor’s or Masters degree in Engineering, Operations or Business Management
• Experience in a commercial role with direct customer contact
• Experience managing teams of employees in remote locations
• Minimum 5 years of experience with process development and business process design
• Minimum 10 years’ Service Operations experience in railway related industries
• Flexibility to travel within Canada and the US
• Proactive, driving personality - dedicated to serving the customer
• Independent worker focused on timely execution
• Experience with GE AC4400 and ACEVO locomotive platforms
• Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt Certified
• Knowledge of GE Transportation Services business and operations
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, presenting and organizational skills
• Sound business acumen and proven leadership skills
• Proven track record of establishing a vision, strategy and executing business plans
• Experience in customer interface and negotiations
• Capable of making decisions facing limited or conflicting data
• Demonstrated cross-functional influencing skills
• Rail industry knowledge and experience.
