The Opportunity
For 74 years, the Belgian-Alliance Credit Union (BACU) has
taken great pride in delivering quality financial services to over 6000 member owners. With three branches in Winnipeg and open to
all, BACU is a dynamic and flexible financial institution that is poised for
continued growth.
Due to the relocation of an existing staff member, we’re
currently looking for an experienced financial professional to join our team.
As a
member of the management team and reporting to the CEO, the Controller prepares
the monthly and annual financial statements to be reviewed by senior
management, the board and our regulatory agencies. The chosen candidate will also be responsible
for the following:

Prepares annual operating and capital budgets for
review

Manages overall credit union accounts payable and
general ledger accounts including processing entries and reconciliations

Monitors credit union accounting systems and
procedures; identifies short-comings and introduces new or improved accounting
methods

Processes payroll
-
Establishes and maintains contact with the regulators
-
Ensures proper risk mitigation strategies are present
for all accounting functions
The Person
As the ideal candidate you have a Canadian accounting
designation or have a minimum of five years of financial accounting/reporting
experience. You are a self-motivated individual
that thrives on making a difference. Your
strength and experience in an office management setting are evident. Prior credit union experience is considered
an asset but not a requirement.
