The helper is part of the hourly workforce for the localized repair shop. This position reports direct to the Service Center Manager.

The helper will assist Journeymen in the Service Center with non-critical operations of disassembly, cleaning, minor inspection and re-assembly work on mechanical equipment. The position will also perform general shop labor duties as required and be designated back-up for shipper receiver position.
• EHS – active participation is a requirement
• Completion of compliance calendar tasks as required
• Procedure and policy adherence
• Ensure that a customer driven and quality focused culture is implemented and maintained
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives
• Participate in daily toolbox meeting
• Mentor new employees
• Follow repair routings to complete non-critical operations on equipment
• Review and sign off shop routings upon completion
• Work with Shop Lead and EHS coordinator to ensure shop housekeeping is maintained
• Responsible to maintain work area and tools within
• Perform basic maintenance of the machine shop equipment
• Steam cleaning of components
• Sandblasting components
• Emptying garbage twice a week
• Keeping shop tidy
• Mopping floors as required
• Cleaning metal cuttings from around machine tools
• Keeping outside around shop perimeter tidy
• Helping trades people when required
• Assist shipper loading and unloading trucks.
• Act as shipper / receiver in his / her absence
• High School Diploma
• Demonstrated written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
• Must be able to work in a team environment
• Demonstrated self-motivation and initiative
• Must have basic computer skills (MS Office)
