The Environmental Health and Safety Manager position will be responsible for ensuring that the Canadian GE W&PT field and the GEWPT Edmonton chemical blending facility operate in compliance with GE and applicable regulatory EHS requirements.

This position works closely with facility and geography leaders to drive EHS performance throughout the region. Work allocation will be 25% support for the Edmonton facility and 75% support for field service and commercial teams.
• Develop and manage EHS programs at assigned facility and GEWPT client sites
• Support assigned groups in the usage of Gensuite and other EHS tools
• Conduct EHS audits of GEWPT facilities, commercial and service locations at client sites as directed
• Investigate industrial accidents, injuries, occupational diseases, environmental spills and near misses to determine root causes and preventive measures.
• Maintain and apply knowledge of current policies, regulations, and industrial processes.
• Conduct or coordinate worker training in areas such as safety laws and regulations, hazardous condition monitoring, use of safety equipment and environmental awareness.

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college

3 years of EHS experience with focus on water treatment, chemical processing and/or supporting dispersed workforces (sales, services)

Eligibility Requirements:
Ability to work independantely and support diverse workforce and customers
Position will be based in Edmonton however the candidate must have tge ability and willingness to travel frequently to multiple locations within service region (including oilsands locations)
Ability and willingness to work in range of physical environments
Familiarity with and/or previous experience with GE environmental, health and safety programs and Gensuite
Strong presentation and communication skills
Strong interpersonal, facilitator, and leadership skills
Ability to multi-task and prioritize
Experience in water, chemical processing, and wastewater operations
Working knowledge of Canadian EHS regulations
Experience working in the Canadian Oil Sands
