POSITION OVERVIEW:
This role provides ongoing advisory services to commercial members through portfolio management and contributes to the achievement of department/branch goals.  The primary focus of this role is developing high value long-term relationships with Small Business clients, including referrals, business development and community involvement.  The portfolio managed is generally made up of Small Business clients, which are less complex accounts.  The size of the credit portfolio will be up to $25 million dollars.
SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES:
  • Responsible for managing and developing an existing portfolio of Small Business clients.  Build relationships with existing members, network with external business organizations and individuals to generate referrals.
  • Receive and analyze loan requests, prepare application and approve within prescribed limits and present recommendation for those loans outside prescribed lending authority.
  • Interpret the branch operating procedures, lending policies, and security requirements and ensure that guidelines for risk and delinquency control are adhered to.
  • Provide ongoing advisory services to commercial members ensuring portfolio growth through the achievement of individual, branch and corporate goals.  Responsible for the profitable growth of an assigned portfolio of Small Business clients through developing new relationships, while retaining and expanding existing relationships.
  • Proactively act on referrals from other branch staff by calling to book appointments with members, ensuring member’s needs are met and closing the sale.
  • Refer more complex sales opportunities and new contacts to appropriate staff for non-commercial products and services.
  • Process commercial products and services as well as investment products.
  • Develop and execute long term and weekly sales plans to consolidate and retain existing business and attract new business.
  • Conduct follow-up on delinquent accounts and overdrafts.
  • Conduct annual reviews on commercial accounts within the assigned portfolio and ensure all terms and conditions of credit are being met.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
  • Post secondary diploma or certification in a related business field along with a minimum three years of small business or commercial lending training, exposure or experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications, specifically MS Excel and Word.
