Ernst & Young's Restructuring Group is the market leading financial advisor in corporate restructurings in Canada. This group works with financially troubled companies and their stakeholders to provide management and stakeholders with solutions to maximize value. Our roles may include the following:

  • Act as a strategic financial advisor to senior management and boards of directors
  • Analysis of a companys current financial situation and strategic alternatives
  • Performance of viability assessments of companies and recommend solutions
  • Assistance in the development of business plans to support restructuring initiatives
  • Provision of advice to creditors in the enforcement of their rights
  • Act as monitor in the context of CCAA filings, or as receiver and manager or trustee in bankruptcy as circumstances dictate.
Our Vancouver Transaction Advisory Services practice has an immediate opening for a Restructuring Manager.

Responsibilities
You will assist in the planning and execution of engagements including performing in-depth analysis of a debtor's financial situation and identifying strategies for dealing with various issues.  This will involve:
  • Interacting with senior client management, bankers, and legal counsel to obtain information, report findings and provide instructions
  • Dealing with creditors and other stakeholders
  • Conducting company and industry research and business analysis
  • Developing complex financial models and reporting under tight timelines
  • Preparing memoranda, letters, reports and other correspondence as required.
You will also be willing to travel (usually within Canada) as necessary to complete client assignments.

  

Knowledge, Skills and Qualifications Required:
  • Designated Canadian CA/CPA.
  • Demonstrated progression through the Chartered Insolvency and Restructuring Professional Qualification Program or commitment to enter the qualification program.
  • Experience on large, complex restructuring engagements
  • Experience developing and working with cash flow models
  • Advanced business modelling skills and experience required
  • Proven capabilities in problem solving, situational analysis, creativity, negotiation and decision making
  • High level of technical competence in conducting financial analysis
  • Ability to prepare high quality written communication
  • Comprehensive understanding of financial statement analysis
  • Ability to work as a team on a number of simultaneous projects
  • Effective time management, especially under tight deadline pressures.

  • Demonstrated project and people management skills
  • An energetic attitude toward successful project completion
