We are currently seeking qualified candidates for an
excellent career and leadership opportunity as a Tax Senior Staff in
our Toronto Private Mid-Market (PMM) entrepreneurial practice. The PMM
practice focuses exclusively on being trusted business advisors to
private entities and their shareholders.
The ideal candidate is a dynamic and
entrepreneurially motivated individual who wishes to grow a long term
career in advising private businesses.
This team member will be responsible for reviewing
personal, corporate and trust tax returns, corresponding with various
tax authorities on client issues, assisting with corporate
reorganizations, researching compliance and planning issues, and
training members of other EY divisions on tax return preparation and
current tax developments.
Responsibilities
• Review personal and corporate tax returns completed by Audit Associates
• Liaise with Canada Revenue Agency and relevant provincial ministries on client issues
• Correspond with audit managers, staff and/or
clients in answer to clients’ specific personal or corporate tax queries
or about matters that arise from compliance or planning work
• Prepare election forms required in corporate reorganizations
• Assist the tax managers and tax partners with
calculations, memos and/or other tasks required in the completion of
corporate reorganizations or planning memos
• Research client issues that arise from compliance or planning work using a variety of on-line sources
• Assist and manage the administration of personal and trust tax compliance seasons
• Develop and present professional development
courses for staff in other E&Y divisions on tax return preparation
or other current tax matters
To qualify for this challenging and rewarding position that

• An undergraduate or graduate degree in accounting and/or other appropriate academic major
• Possess a Canadian CPA or CA designation, or a reciprocal CA designation recognized with the CICA
• Be eligible for enrolment in the In-Depth Tax Course (or equivalent)
• Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Demonstrate ability to work as part of a team
• Possess organization and time management skills
