SUMMARY OF POSITION (Strategic Intent):
This role provides you an opportunity to influence the business plan, pricing and promotional activities with major strategic customers in Canada , in essence acting as CFO to the Customer Development /sales team.
ORGANIZATION (People Accountabilities, Reporting Lines & Internal/External Partnerships):
• Penetrate the Customer organization to build the perception of KC as an indispensable partner and leverage the capabilities of the Customer team to drive incremental business opportunities
• Provide leadership, work direction and coaching to two Senior Financial Analysts – Sales Finance to ensure effective completion of all team tasks while providing a learning environment that encourages challenging work assignments and personal growth
• A principal activity of this position is to ensure that all customers have robust business plans that meet corporate needs and through analysis, plans and programs are proactively adjusted to deliver sales and market share targets.
• Demonstrate a commitment to quality performance through personal example by adopting a customer-based approach to business support.
KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Contribute to the achievement of net sales, profit and share objectives through the development and execution of effective and efficient Integrated Customer Business Plans. Identify opportunities for process improvement.
• Understand the key assumptions behind gross sales and trade spend forecast and be able to challenge the assumptions with the sales team
• Provide the Customer Development team with ongoing, timely, and meaningful financial analysis and information, challenge the underlying assumptions to facilitate sound business decisions;
• Strong presentation skills, relationship building and ability to be an indispensable partner to the sales team in customer negotiations
• Track and evaluate team performance for gross sales, Net Sales, Trade Promotion, Contribution, Trade efficiency etc. versus budget and provide status updates to the Director of Sales including an analysis of change to Customer Contribution and recommendations for plan adjustments needed to deliver team objectives.
• Understand the key drivers behind driving the business with the customer and proactively provide data and analytical support to the sales team on improving product and promotion mix and driving value with the customer
• Provide management oversight and work proactively with the customer team to manage the trade spending within budget; communicate changes to funding to the customer team
• Assist the Customer Business Partners in developing and implementing cost effective promotion plans. Perform post promotion event analysis as necessary to ensure event efficiencies match expectations and recommend changes to future events where appropriate.
• Ensure the sales team is focused on return on trade spend (TSROI), trade efficiency and improving customer contribution
• Actively participate in projects as part of cross-functional teams, build strong relationships with the sales teams and collaborate on activities and solutions that lead to profitable growth with the customer
• Promote sound internal control programs and support the Corporation's requirement for strong central financial control by reporting to the Director of Finance, whenever Corporate Financial Policies or instructions are not being followed or appear inappropriate, inadequate or out-of-date
Qualifications
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS (Education, Experience & Critical Skills/Competencies):
• Degree in business Finance related field. Completed CMA/ CA / MBA with a minimum of 5-7 years proven and progressive experience in corporate finance and / or business analysis.
• Knowledge of the financial and business implications of general business practices is essential.
• Previous P&L responsibility and CPG industry experience along with a thorough understanding of forecasting techniques is preferred.
• Advanced analytical proficiency in excel experience in category or sales data analysis; strong business judgment, problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Knowledge of the Promax, Analytx, and other Customer Development tools is desirable.
• Strategic thinker who is willing to operate outside their comfort zone and has the courage to challenge the status quo.
• Demonstrated leadership skills to implement team-based involvement while driving organizational goals.
• Ability to think through ambiguous situation, present complex information and analysis in a clear and concise manner
